How much does hotel photography cost?

What drives the price of a hotel shoot, what should always be included, and how to budget for images that keep working long after the shoot day.

If you have ever asked three photographers for a hotel quote, you probably received three very different numbers. That is not because anyone is being unreasonable. Hotel photography covers a wide range of work, from a quick refresh of two room types to a full editorial library that powers your website, booking platforms and social channels for years. Knowing what drives the price makes it much easier to compare quotes and plan a budget that fits.

The short answer

At Zyre Collective, hotel and resort shoots start from $1,200. Café and restaurant shoots start from $300, and vacation rental listings start from $450. Where your project lands above that starting point depends on a handful of factors that are worth understanding before you request quotes anywhere.

What drives the price of a hotel shoot

Size and number of spaces

A twelve room boutique inn with one signature suite needs far less time than a resort with several room categories, two restaurants, a spa and event spaces. Each distinct space needs to be styled, lit and photographed from several angles, so the number of spaces is usually the biggest single factor in the quote.

Time on site

Hotel and resort shoots are usually spread across a couple of days, so morning light, evening light, dining and guest moments can each be captured at their best, such as a lit pool deck or a bar in full swing. Golden hour and blue hour are short, and good planning around them matters more than raw hours.

Video

Short form vertical video is now as important as stills for many properties, especially on Instagram and TikTok. Filming alongside the photo shoot is far more efficient than booking a separate production later, but it does add time on site and editing after.

Styling, people and food

Lifestyle moments with guests or staff, styled breakfast trays and plated dishes all add warmth and help travelers picture themselves at your property. They also need coordination, timing and sometimes a chef on hand, which is reflected in the scope.

Travel

If your photographer is traveling to you, travel is part of the cost. A good quote states this clearly up front rather than adding it later. With Zyre Collective, travel is included in every hotel package, along with a hosted stay during the shoot.

What should always be included

Price only means something when you know what you are getting. Whoever you hire, make sure these are part of the package:

  • A shot list agreed before the shoot, so nothing important is missed
  • Professional editing with a consistent color grade across every image
  • Full resolution files for print plus web ready versions that load quickly
  • Clear usage rights covering your website, booking platforms, social media, advertising and press
  • A defined turnaround time and at least one round of revisions

At Zyre Collective, every shoot includes full usage rights with no restrictions, delivery within 5 to 7 business days and one revision round. You can read more in our frequently asked questions.

Why the cheapest quote can cost more

Photos are often the first and longest impression a guest has of your property. They appear on your website, on every booking platform, in search results and across social media, sometimes for years. Images that feel dark, cluttered or dated quietly push travelers toward a competitor with a better first impression.

There are also hidden costs. Limited licenses can mean paying again when you want to use an image in an ad or a press kit. Inconsistent editing makes your website feel stitched together. Missing shots, like the bathroom or the view from your best suite, often mean booking a second shoot sooner than expected.

The real question is not what a shoot costs, but how long the images will keep earning for you.

How to budget wisely

Start with the spaces that sell

Guests book rooms first. Prioritize every room category, the bathroom, the view and the one or two amenities that define your stay. Dining, venues and lifestyle moments come next.

Think in seasons, not one shoot

Many properties get better value from a smaller shoot now and a seasonal refresh later than from one large shoot every few years. A Growth Partner Program keeps your library current without a big one time spend.

Capture video at the same time

If short form video is on your list for the year, adding it to the photo shoot is almost always more efficient than a separate production.

Ask what is included, not just the total

Compare deliverables, usage rights, turnaround and revisions side by side. A slightly higher quote that includes everything is often the better value.

How to get an accurate quote

The fastest way to an accurate number is to share a few details: how many rooms and room types you have, which amenities and venues matter most, whether you want video, and any dates or seasonal moments you are planning around. A link to your current website and booking listings helps too.
